Preface

The SAP ECC deadline of December 2027 is approaching fast — but migrating doesn't have to be risky, expensive, or confusing. This book shows you the exact process we use, and a real customer who trusted us with their most critical system.

01
The reality behind every SAP ECC deadline

Why Companies Migrate

SAP has announced that standard support for SAP ECC ends on 31 December 2027. After that date, staying on ECC means no more security patches, no legal or tax updates, and growing compliance risk — at an ever-increasing extended-maintenance cost. Every company running SAP ECC must eventually move to S/4HANA.

That decision brings three big questions:

  • How do I migrate without disrupting my business? (downtime is revenue)
  • How do I control cost and risk? (budget overruns kill projects)
  • Who do I trust with my most critical system? (ERP failure = business failure)

This book shows exactly how Krizia Technologies answers those questions — with a proven, transparent, end-to-end process, and a real customer story that shows how it works in practice.

02
Six clear phases — start to delivery to support

Our End-to-End Process

We divide every engagement into 6 clear phases. You always know where you are, what happens next, and what you are paying for. No surprises. No hidden scope.

1

Discovery & Assessment

Weeks 1–2

Goal: Understand your system completely before we touch anything.

  • Free technical assessment using SAP Readiness Check 3.0 and Simplification Item Check
  • Full inventory: database size, custom code (ABAP), interfaces, users, integrations
  • Custom code analysis with ATC — we find exactly what needs to change
  • Deliverable: Readiness Report + high-level roadmap — no cost, no obligation
2

Architecture & Planning

Weeks 3–6

Goal: Design the target cloud landscape and agree the plan.

  • Cloud architecture (AWS / Azure / GCP) — HA, DR, backup, security, networking
  • Precise HANA sizing from your real database numbers (not guesses)
  • Migration method selection: brownfield / greenfield / selective — with a clear recommendation
  • Transparent cost model (3-year TCO) and a phased project plan with milestones
  • Deliverable: Signed architecture document + budget + project plan
3

Build & Sandbox Conversion

Weeks 7–9

Goal: Prove the migration works on a real copy — before production.

  • Cloud landing zone built with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) — reproducible and auditable
  • First full conversion on a sandbox system (a real copy of your production data)
  • We benchmark the actual downtime and tune the migration for speed
  • Deliverable: validated migration method + downtime benchmark
4

Quality System (QAS) Conversion & Testing

Weeks 10–15

Goal: Complete all adaptations and test everything with your business users.

  • Second conversion on the Quality system — closer to production reality
  • Custom code adaptation, Business Partner (CVI) preparation, Fiori activation
  • Business process regression testing with your functional teams
  • Deliverable: signed-off test results — your teams confirm the new system works
5

Cutover & Go-Live

1 Weekend

Goal: Migrate production with minimal downtime and a tested rollback plan.

  • Full dress rehearsal before the go-live weekend
  • One-step SAP procedure (SUM 2.0 DMO) — database migration, system conversion, cloud move together
  • Documented rollback plan — if anything fails, your old system is untouched and recoverable
  • Go-live support around the clock; business sign-off at every checkpoint
  • Deliverable: successful production go-live
6

Support & Optimization

Go-Live +

Goal: Keep your new system healthy, secure, and cost-efficient.

  • 2-week hypercare with dedicated on-call support immediately after go-live
  • 24×7 monitoring: performance, availability, backup, and security alerts
  • Continuous cost optimization — we watch your cloud spend and right-size
  • Optional long-term managed services: Basis, HANA administration, patching, upgrades
  • Deliverable: ongoing reliability and controlled cost
🤝

One team, one contract, one accountable partner. You never coordinate between separate consultants, cloud vendors, and support providers. Krizia Technologies owns the outcome end to end.

03
How a mid-size factory moved to S/4HANA on AWS in one weekend

Case Study — Meridian Manufacturing

Everyone told us we had to move off SAP ECC, but nobody showed us how to do it safely. Krizia Technologies didn't just migrate our system — they held our hand through every step, and we never missed a single day of business.
CIO, Meridian Manufacturing (name changed for confidentiality)

📌The Customer

Meridian Manufacturing, a 400-employee company with two plants, had run SAP ECC 6.0 for 14 years. Their system held 1.8 TB of critical business data (orders, inventory, finance) and served 300 daily users. Their IT team had just 3 people — and none of them had ever done a migration before.

😟The Problem

In early 2026, Meridian received the news that many companies dread: SAP ECC support ends in December 2027. Suddenly they faced:

  • A hard deadline they didn't have the skills to meet
  • Fear of downtime — their factory runs 6 days a week; even one lost day costs ~$50,000
  • Fear of data loss — 14 years of financial and customer history
  • Confusing vendor quotes with unclear scope and hidden costs

They had already talked to two large consultancies. The quotes were three times their budget, and neither firm could explain in plain language what would actually happen to their factory during cutover. Frustrated and worried, Meridian reached out to Krizia Technologies.

🤝Our First Step — No-Cost Discovery

Instead of selling, we started with a free assessment. In two weeks, using SAP Readiness Check 3.0, we mapped their entire landscape: database size, 140 custom ABAP programs, 25 interfaces, and their real usage patterns. We delivered a clear report: “Here is what you have, here is what changes, and here is exactly what it will cost.” The Meridian CIO later told us this transparency is why they chose us.

🏗️The Plan — Clear, Phased, Affordable

We proposed a brownfield migration to S/4HANA on AWS — preserving all 14 years of data and configuration, so the business kept working the way they knew. Key decisions, all explained in plain English:

  • HANA database on r8i.32xlarge (1,024 GB memory) sized precisely from their real 1.8 TB database
  • High availability: a synchronous replica in a second data center — if one server fails, no downtime
  • Disaster recovery: an asynchronous copy in a second region for extra safety
  • Downtime target: one weekend — using SAP's proven SUM 2.0 DMO one-step procedure
  • Budget: within their original allocation, with a 3-year cost model they could take to their board

🔁The Journey — Two Safe Rehearsals

We never migrated production “cold.” First, we converted a sandbox copy of their real system — a full dress rehearsal that proved the process and measured exact downtime. Then we did it again on their quality system, where their own finance and warehouse teams tested every business process and signed off. By go-live day, the migration had been executed and validated twice.

🚀Go-Live Weekend

On a Friday evening, users logged out, and our team executed the one-step conversion. The factory was back up on Sunday morning — well within the target. Total downtime: 26 hours, on a weekend, zero lost production days. Their old ECC system stayed untouched as a safety net for four weeks. It was never needed.

🛡️After Go-Live — We Stayed

We provided two weeks of hypercare with a dedicated team on call, then transitioned to ongoing managed support. Meridian now runs with:

  • Automatic daily backups they never have to think about
  • 24×7 monitoring with alerts before small problems become big ones
  • A cloud cost review that saved them an additional 15% in the first six months
  • Their small IT team learning S/4HANA alongside us, not drowning in it

What Meridian's CIO said after go-live

Krizia Technologies treated our factory like their own. They explained everything in language we understood, rehearsed until we were confident, and delivered on time and on budget. The best decision we made this year was picking the right partner — not the biggest one.
